Biography

William P. Mitchell was an Alabama voting-rights organizer associated with the Alabama State Coordinating Association for Registration and Voting. Alabama officials accused him and W. C. Patton of secretly acting for the NAACP while it was barred from operating in the state and drew them into civil contempt litigation.
