Biography

W. C. Patton was an Alabama voting-rights organizer and NAACP official. Alabama officials accused him and William P. Mitchell of secretly acting for the NAACP while it was barred from operating in the state and drew them into civil contempt litigation connected to the state’s effort to suppress Black voter registration.
