Biography

Knute Walstad, born in 1871 in Fillmore County, Minnesota, was a Roberts County farmer and 1934 Workers’ and Farmers’ United Front gubernatorial candidate in South Dakota. His November 1 biography, headed Walsted but captioned Walstad, recounts his spring 1934 arrest with sixteen other farmers for preventing an eviction. It says the farmers were set free at the June trials and the injunction against ninety-three farmers and workers was withdrawn. No exact arrest or physical release day or measured duration is supplied. Julius Walstadt, another farmer already recorded, is not presumed to be Knute.
