Biography

John Brown Anti-Klan Committee activist imprisoned for civil contempt after refusing to cooperate with a Washington, D.C. grand jury investigating the November 1983 Capitol bombing and related actions. Contemporary reports document her confinement beginning February 19, 1985 and release October 3, 1985 when the grand jury expired. Her prison address was FCI Lexington's women's unit, register 00833-000; this was not the later High Security Unit, which opened in October 1986.

1985 civil-contempt custody and prison unit clarified

Original June 1985 Death to the Klan!, page 3, identifies Nalibov among the jailed grand-jury resisters and gives her address as FCI Lexington, Women's Unit, register 00833-000. The prison assignment is corrected to the existing ordinary FCI Lexington record; the separate shared High Security Unit record is not changed. The generic criminal-charge wording is replaced with the documented civil-contempt proceeding. Original contemporary report and prison address.

Original November 1985 Libertad, page 2, individually names Nalibov among four resisters imprisoned February 19 and among six released October 3 when the Washington grand jury's term expired. These corroborate the existing exact incarceration and release dates, which are retained. No separately documented arrest day is inferred from the civil-contempt commitment, and no admission to Lexington on February 19 is asserted without a transfer record. The 226 elapsed days refer to this documented custody interval, not a lifetime total. Original contemporary release report.

The original appellate opinion dates the opening of Lexington's Female High Security Unit to October 1986, after this 1985 release. The former profile's claim that this stay was in that later unit is removed. No independent later HSU confinement for Nalibov was established by these sources. Baraldini v. Thornburgh, 884 F.2d 615. Existing identified photograph is retained.
