Anti-imperialist activist imprisoned for civil contempt after refusing to cooperate with a Washington, D.C. grand jury. Contemporary 1985 accounts place her in FCI Lexington's women's unit; this was not the High Security Unit that opened in 1986.
Christine Rico was one of the four current and former members of the John Brown Anti-Klan Committee — Steven Burke, Julie Nalibov, Christine Rico and Sandra Roland — subpoenaed in late 1984 to a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C. investigating the November 1983 Capitol bombing and related armed actions. All four publicly refused to testify or cooperate in any way, declaring they would not become informers on the movement, and all four were jailed as grand-jury resisters in 1985 without ever being charged with a crime (Washington Post, January 16, 1985; JBAKC, Stop the Grand Jury!, November 1984; Breakthrough, Spring/Summer 1985).
Verified civil-contempt endpoints and institution
Libertad individually identifies Rico among four resisters imprisoned February 19, 1985 and among six actually released October 3, 1985 when the grand jury ended. These are civil-contempt custody endpoints, not a criminal conviction or a separately established police arrest. Death to the Klan identifies her Lexington women's-unit mailing address in June 1985. The High Security Unit opened in October 1986, after this detention ended, so the erroneous HSU link and biography assertion are corrected. A new police-arrest date is not invented.
