Biography
Sandra Roland was a John Brown Anti-Klan Committee grand-jury resister imprisoned for civil contempt in1985. The contemporary Breakthrough directory lists her in Lexington's women's unit. This is not evidence of confinement in the later High Security Unit, which opened in1986. Her existing identified portrait is retained.
Lexington women's unit, not the later HSU
The original 1985directory was fully visually reviewed. The primary HSU litigation findings establish the later unit's opening. BOP confirms the civil-contempt record but supplies no discharge day. The earlier independently documented endpoints and existing portrait are preserved.
The November 1984 John Brown Anti-Klan Committee biography identifies Sandra Gayle Roland by her full name and describes her feminist, prisoner-advocacy and anti-death-penalty work. At that point the Washington grand-jury investigation threatened her with imprisonment for refusing to cooperate; that account does not date her later actual confinement.
