Biography
Victor Malis appeared before the House Un-American Activities Committee at its Gary, Indiana hearings in February 1958 and relied on the First Amendment in refusing questions about political beliefs and affiliations. A federal grand jury indicted him for contempt of Congress on July 17, 1959. The government asked to postpone his trial indefinitely in 1960 because witnesses were unavailable. No conviction or confinement was established.
