Biography
Alfred James Samter was a Gary, Indiana steelworker subpoenaed before the House Un-American Activities Committee on February 10, 1958. He invoked the First Amendment and refused questions about political beliefs and alleged Communist activity at his workplace. The House cited him for contempt, but his trial was postponed indefinitely in 1960. The reviewed record does not establish an arrest, jail booking, conviction or confinement.
