Chicano activist associated with the Crusade for Justice in Denver, arrested following the 1973 confrontation in Denver between police and the Crusade for Justice that left activist Luis Martínez dead. Convicted and sentenced to three concurrent 15-year terms. Documented in PFOC Breakthrough magazine.
The Militant of November 2, 1973 reports that Mario Vásquez had been convicted of three first-degree assault counts for allegedly shooting three Denver police officers during their March 17 entry into his apartment near the Tlatelolco School. At the time of that report, sentence had been withheld pending appeal and he was free on $25,000 bond. This is an earlier procedural snapshot, not a contradiction of the later three concurrent fifteen-year terms in his existing record, and not evidence that he remained continuously imprisoned from the arrest.
