Biography
Gary Garrison was a mathematics teacher at Escuela Tlatelolco, the Chicano school operated by Denver’s Crusade for Justice. Police arrested him at home on January 16, 1974 while investigating an attempted bombing of a paint store. He was held on $100,000 bond and released on his own recognizance two days later. After appearing before a grand jury on January 24, Garrison was indicted and jailed again on $50,000 bond; a judge reduced it to $7,500 the following day, and Garrison later secured release while awaiting trial. The case moved to Fort Morgan after prejudicial publicity. On September 2, 1975 the judge dismissed the conspiracy count and a jury acquitted Garrison of every remaining charge.
