Biography

Jackson was a Communist speaker detained by Waterbury, Connecticut police on May 21, 1931. A worker correspondent in the Daily Worker of May 29, page 3, reports that he went to the police station seeking the location of a Scottsboro protest meeting and was held until the meeting ended. Released afterward, he explained the delay to the local secretary. The source gives only his surname, no statutory charge or conviction, and no measured number of hours. The separate unnamed speaker held overnight in an earlier incident is not identified as Jackson.
