Biography
David Kaplan was jailed thirty-six days in the 1935 Bridgeport, Connecticut student-strike case, one of the youth free-speech prosecutions of the year.
The November 12, 1934 Daily Worker names him among seven Bridgeport anti-Nazi demonstrators beaten and arrested at the October 26 protest against a visit by the German consul-general. Kaplan, Kieve Liskofsky, Katherine Zematis and Emily Mureika were acquitted. This is distinct from the later Bridgeport student-strike episode; the report does not establish an exact discharge.
