Biography
Deusdedit Marrero was a Puerto Rican Communist and independence figure convicted under Puerto Rico's 'Gag Law' (Law 53) of advocating the overthrow of the insular government. He was held in the Arecibo jail and, supporters reported, denied his mail and reading material.
Dávila Marichal identifies Marrero and José Enamorado Cuesta as the two Communists kept imprisoned on Law 53 charges after the 1950 uprising, distinguishing their prosecutions from armed participation. This corroborates actual continued detention without establishing an individual final sentence or exact gate dates.
