Biography

Pablo Garcia Rodriguez was a Harvard-trained civil-rights lawyer and member of the central committee of the Communist Party of Puerto Rico, arrested October 20, 1954 in the first Smith Act prosecution ever brought in Puerto Rico. He was one of eleven defendants awaiting trial in San Juan in an English-language proceeding their lawyers said they could not understand.
