Biography
Alvin “Al” Bridges was a Nisqually fisherman, a founder of the Survival of the American Indian Association and a central organizer of the treaty fishing-rights struggle at Frank’s Landing. Washington game officers repeatedly arrested him during the 1960s for fishing in waters guaranteed by treaty, confiscating boats and nets in an effort to stop the fish-ins. Contemporary reporting confirms repeated jail bookings and convictions but the reviewed sources do not provide a reliable arrest-by-arrest custody chronology or exact time served.
