Adolfo Matos Antongiorgi
Biography
Adolfo Matos Antongiorgi was born September 18, 1950 in Lajas, Puerto Rico. He moved to New York at 15 and later became active in Puerto Rican independence work in Chicago. Federal authorities arrested him with ten other FALN members in Evanston, Illinois on April 4, 1980. He refused to recognize the court’s jurisdiction, was convicted of seditious conspiracy and related charges, and received a 70-year sentence. President Bill Clinton commuted his sentence in 1999, and he was released on September 10 after more than 19 years in custody.
