Abdimanan Bana Habib, 21, of Fargo ND, threw rocks at police and attempted to light a Molotov cocktail during the May 2020 BLM protests. Charged October 21, 2020. Pleaded guilty; 4 months federal prison + 3 years supervised release + $2,500 restitution.
Documented case history
The December 27, 2023 Eighth Circuit opinion describes an initial sentence of time served and three years of supervised release, followed by two distinct revocations: nine months imprisonment with 24 months supervision, then 24 months imprisonment with two months supervision. The later sentence was affirmed. These were separate custody episodes with intervening supervision; the opinion supplies no exact admission or release days. The legacy October 2020–November 2024 endpoints cannot establish one continuous period of imprisonment, and sentence lengths must not be summed as actual time served.
