Biography
Winters was a Cannery and Agricultural Workers' Industrial Union organizer convicted in a Riverside County, California fruit-pickers' strike case in 1934 and sentenced to 15 months.
Labor Defender, April 1934: The Riverside report says Winters and Stewart were sitting in their car outside the meeting hall when arrested; it gives each a fifteen-month sentence and describes cash-only bail of $2,500. These are arrest circumstances and imposed terms, not completed time served. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/labordefender/1934/v10n04-apr-1934-orig-LD.pdf#page=5
