Biography
Willow Amanda Cordes-Eklund is a dancer, puppeteer, and environmental activist from Minneapolis. On July 6, 2010, she locked her neck to the underside of a tractor-trailer carrying a turbine blade to the Kibby Wind Power Project in western Maine. She was arrested for failing to disperse, convicted after a jury trial, and sentenced on June 21, 2011 to ten days in jail and a $500 fine. She reported to the Somerset County Jail on August 25, 2011 to serve the sentence.
Omitted initial detention review October 13, 2026: The original July 6, 2010 Daily Bulldog report individually identifies Willow Amanda Cordes-Eklund and states all four arrested protesters were taken to Franklin County jail that day. A separate initial detention episode is added; the existing 2011 sentence episode is preserved. Initial discharge and actual release from the later sentence remain unknown, and neither is calculated from the ten-day sentence.
The 2015 Women’s Works program identifies Cordes-Eklund as a ballet- and modern-dance-trained puppeteer who opened With Breath Puppet Studio in Belfast, Maine. Her Wild Waters project addressed protection of Minnesota wild rice and waterways.
