Biography
Erik J. Gillard is a Vermont artist, printmaker, poet, wilderness guide, youth mentor, and environmental activist. On July 6, 2010, he joined an Earth First! blockade of a truck carrying a turbine blade to the Kibby Wind Power Project in western Maine. He was arrested for failing to disperse, convicted after a jury trial, and sentenced on June 21, 2011 to ten days in jail and a $500 fine. He began serving the jail term immediately after sentencing.
Omitted initial detention review October 13, 2026: The original July 6, 2010 Daily Bulldog report identifies Eric J. Gillard, the variant spelling used in this same blockade case, among four arrestees taken to Franklin County jail that day. That initial booking is recorded separately from the existing 2011 sentence episode. Actual releases from both phases remain unresolved; sentence length is not used to invent a discharge day.
