Biography
Industrial Pioneer reports William Danton arrested in Rice County, Kansas on July 1, 1920 under the criminal syndicalism law. He was later released on $500 bail. After the Kansas Supreme Court denied habeas corpus, his bond was canceled and he was returned to the county jail at Lyons awaiting trial. This establishes separate custody segments with an intervening bail release; their endpoints and complete service are unknown. White’s note 16 identifies George Denton as an alias of William Danton and reports his arrest in Rice County in July 1920 and ten weeks held at Lyons before $500 bonds secured release in September. This is an attributed first pretrial segment; it is distinct from Danton’s separately documented return to jail after habeas denial and is not his complete lifetime time served.
