Biography
Matt Cushing was arrested in the 1928 Kansas City, Kansas raids on workers' meetings at the Armour packing plant and charged under the Kansas Criminal Syndicalism Law with advocating or belonging to an organization that advocated the overthrow of government. The defendants were released on ILD bond to await trial.
The August 24 report distinguishes an arrest at an Armour packing-plant gate meeting, followed by bail release, from a later arrest at a Shawnee Park Sacco–Vanzetti memorial. The two physical episodes are recorded separately. Conflicting relative dates and anniversary wording in the August 24 and September 1 issues support August 1928 month precision, rather than exact incident days.
