Victor Daniel Salamanca (El Viejito), age 63, lead defendant in the Salamanca cluster - the FARC ICE-sting case in which he helped undercover informants get fake IDs, passports, and contacts including a money launderer. 70 months federal prison + 36 months supervised release.
The original Southern District of Florida indictment in case 06-20001-CR-Lenard/Klein bears a January 3, 2006 filing stamp and names this defendant among ten accused in the Salamanca investigation. Its descriptions of the 2005 undercover operation are charging allegations. The indictment itself does not establish an arrest, extradition, prison admission or release date; the date embedded in the downloaded filename is not the filing date. The full name and age progression from DOJ's 2008 sentencing announcement identify this defendant. The year-only release is replaced by this official federal endpoint. The legacy January 1, 2006 admission preceded the documented January 26 arrest and was unsupported; it and the resulting 1,826-day total are cleared. Actual admission, an exact sentencing day and an identifiable photograph remain unresolved. The February 29 announcement says sentencing had occurred, not that it occurred on its publication day.
