Biography

Veronica Vigil was jailed for civil contempt after refusing to answer a federal grand jury’s questions in a Colorado bombing investigation. The appellate court records that she was confined after the August 22, 1975 hearing and that her request for a stay was denied on September 9. Her arguments about surveillance, marital privilege and compelled testimony were rejected. A contemporary report on the Chicano defense movement still identified her as jailed in early 1976. The date of her physical release is unresolved.
