Biography

Tokiyio Saisho was a California Japanese Labor Union leader from the Garden Grove workers’ camp arrested by deputy sheriffs during the Los Angeles-area agricultural strike. The June 1 dispatch in the June 4, 1936 Western Worker says the three leaders were arrested the preceding Wednesday, May 27. Sheriff Foese alleged that Saisho led the Japanese wing of the Communist Party; this is the officer’s accusation, not an independently established affiliation. No formal charge, verdict or custody endpoint is specified. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/westernworker/1936/v5n45-w308%5B208%5D-jun-04-1936.pdf#page=2
