Biography
Todd Kaplan was engaged in work with the poor in Washington, DC at the time of Pershing Plowshares. No further sourceable biographical detail was found.
Pershing Plowshares: custody episodes distinguished
The original May 1984 newsletter dates the action and initial detention to April 22, 1984 and reports continued detention while the eight refused bond. The August issue establishes sentencing on July 26, 1984. However, Jim Perkins subsequently described a period of freedom before the trial ended. The initial detention and later sentenced imprisonment are therefore recorded separately; the exact intervening release and later remand dates remain unresolved. The July 26 sentencing date is not silently treated as a new prison-admission date, and no arrest-to-final-release continuous total is inferred.
The sentence was three years for depredation and five years probation for conspiracy, with restitution. Christin Schmidt expressly corrected the earlier newsletter account of an extra suspended five-year term, and Perkins independently describes the same sentence.

Actual prison-to-halfway-house transfer located
The July 1986 update reports Kaplan was transferred to a halfway house in early May 1986. This is an actual transfer, unlike the unfulfilled March 19 forecast. May 1986 is therefore recorded at month precision as departure from prison; the stored May 1 is not a known day. The anticipated mid-July completion of the halfway-house stay is not recorded as an actual final supervision release. No continuous custody count is inferred across the earlier pretrial release.

The official locator identifies TODD SMICHA KAPLAN, register 03828-018, not in BOP custody as of July 18, 1986. This confirms an actual federal endpoint after the May 1986 transfer to a halfway house; May remains the separately documented prison departure, not a precise-day release from all federal custody. The Spring/Summer 1986 Write Through the Walls directory individually lists Todd Kaplan under historical prisoner number 03828-018, with correspondence directed to Pembroke Station, Danbury, Connecticut. The original name, individual number and political-prisoner group context match this existing profile.
