Ted Witt was a young Communist League member arrested with John Hilty and other members of a Wisconsin election tour at its Sheboygan meeting on Thursday night, September 25, 1930. The report describes police returning with reinforcements after Burke continued speaking to about 500 workers. Police said the speakers needed a permit. All four were eventually released following audience protests; no exact physical discharge day or complete detention duration is supplied.
