Biography
Sam Reed was a union member and former Communist Party official prosecuted in the Cleveland Taft-Hartley conspiracy case. A jury convicted him and six others on January 29, 1958 of conspiring to file false non-Communist affidavits. He received an eighteen-month prison sentence and a $2,500 fine. After the Supreme Court declined review on February 20, 1961, Reed was required to surrender and imprisonment is confirmed, but exact entry and release dates remain unresolved.
