Illinois Black Panther Party member shot four times surviving the Dec. 4, 1969 police raid on Fred Hampton's apartment; The Black Panther Vol. 15 no.13 (1976) reports the attempted-murder and weapons indictments against him were dropped after police lab evidence was shown to be falsified, and he became a plaintiff in the $47.7 million civil-rights suit.

The January 10, 1970 newspaper identifies Ronald “Doc” Satchell as the Illinois Panther health-program organizer hospitalized after the December 4 raid and working to establish the Spurgeon “Jake” Winters Free People’s Medical Care Center. The same issue also prints the first-name variant Rob. It reports five gunshot wounds, whereas the existing description reports four; this discrepancy is retained without silently replacing the existing account. Medical hospitalization alone is not treated as proof of continued guarded custody.

The FBI file identifies Ronald Jerome Satchel as born June 22, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio. The birth information appears in its account of police records, rather than an independently obtained birth certificate.
The FBI records at PDF pages 89 and 1354–1356 individually identify Ronald Jerome Satchel in the eleven-person February 9, 1969 Pesotum arrest after a Rantoul Holiday Inn dispute. Page 89 reports commitment to Champaign County Jail in Urbana. Page 1356 names Satchel and reports that he and the others appeared in Urbana Magistrate Court on February 10, pleaded guilty to defrauding an innkeeper, were each fined $25 plus $15 court costs, and were released. Attorney Dennis Cunningham represented them. This directly bridges the named arrest to its disposition. The one-night calendar interval is not a prison sentence and is distinct from Satchel’s December 1969 raid detention. No day counter is added here.
