Biography
Raymond Dennis was a leader of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers prosecuted in the federal conspiracy case over Taft-Hartley non-Communist affidavits. The 1959 conviction was reversed. A second jury convicted him on September 20, 1963, and the court imposed three years in prison and a $2,000 fine that November. He remained free on appeal bond, and historical research confirms that the government had not jailed any of these Mine-Mill defendants by 1968.
