Biography

The Kansas City worker correspondence reported Peter Berger imprisoned at Leeds Prison Farm after an injury on a city relief job and a demand for relief from the Provident Association. It said agents obtained a warrant and testified against him, and he received a $500 fine or one year in jail without a chance to speak in his defense. His wife was told he was hospitalized although he was jailed with a broken foot. The year is the imposed alternative term, not proven time served. Daily Worker, April 18, 1932, original PDF page 3.
