Biography

Oscar Bivens, aged24, was reported sentenced to the electric chair in the June28 Chattanooga account. The paper alleges coached lineup identification by officer RoyClinton, inconsistent testimony and racial prosecution. Those are source allegations rather than independent findings. The report says a judge promised to consider a new trial on appeal; no completed new-trial grant or execution is established. A separate earlier late-hours jailing after police took Bivens and friends from a porch is recorded without exact dates.
