Biography

Orindatus Simon Bolivar Wall was a Black shoemaker in Oberlin, Ohio and brother-in-law of John Mercer Langston (later one of the first Black officers commissioned in the U.S. Army). Orindatus Simon Bolivar Wall was one of the twenty men jailed for the 1858 Oberlin–Wellington Rescue. Indicted under the misstated name "Oliver S. B. Wall," his indictment was dismissed on April 25, 1859 for the name error.
