Biography
Norman Silverman was a Chicago furrier arrested about three weeks after the July 1951 Cicero housing riot for distributing leaflets headed “End Mob Rule in Cicero.” A grand jury then indicted him with supporters of the Clark family for an alleged conspiracy to reduce property values, while indicting none of the white rioters. The conspiracy charge was eventually dismissed. The reviewed record does not establish how long Silverman was held after arrest.
