Biography
Andrew Peter Yiannopoulos was a Greek-born Chicago resident and director of the Greek Theater. Immigration authorities issued an arrest warrant on February 17, 1954 and ordered him deported based on paid-informer allegations of Communist Party membership. A federal district court set the proceeding aside, and the Seventh Circuit affirmed on August 23, 1957 because the hearing had been unfair. The reviewed record does not establish that the warrant resulted in confinement.
