Biography
James Keller was a foreign-born Chicago resident under an immigration order of supervision because no country would accept him for deportation. Federal officers arrested him on November 3, 1955 after he refused, on First and Fifth Amendment grounds, to answer questions about his associates. The prosecution tested the McCarran-Walter Act’s supervision provisions. The reviewed record does not establish how long he was held after arrest or the final disposition.
