Biography
Camille DeRose owned the Cicero, Illinois apartment building rented to Harvey and Johnetta Clark, a Black couple whose attempted move triggered a white mob attack in July 1951. A Cook County grand jury indicted DeRose and other people who had helped the Clarks rather than members of the mob. The charges against DeRose were dropped in 1952, and the reviewed record does not establish that she was jailed in this case.
