Biography

Max Kantar is an anti-war activist who read a statement challenging U.S. Senator Carl Levin’s support for U.S. wars and military policy during an August 16, 2010 public meeting in Big Rapids, Michigan. Ahlam Mohsen then pressed a crustless apple pie into Levin’s face. Kantar surrendered on August 18 and was released on bond on August 20. After federal prosecutors took over the case, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault on a member of Congress and aiding and abetting. On August 30, 2011, he was sentenced to thirty days and taken immediately into federal custody.
