Biography
Ludwig E. Katterfeld was convicted under the Illinois criminal syndicalism law and received a one- to five-year prison sentence. Katterfeld was a founding member of the American Communist Party and a member of the party's Executive Committee. In 1929, he was expelled from the Communist Party for refusing to submit the magazine he had founded to party control. He was described as a "sincere, honest American radical, " who gave "years of his life to the Socialist movement."
