Biography
Lucille Bethencourt was arrested in Lorain on October 6, 1953 in the Ohio Smith Act roundup and initially held under $25,000 bail. A jury convicted her on February 10, 1956, and the court imposed a three-and-one-half-year sentence. The Sixth Circuit reversed the conviction on May 23, 1958, and prosecutors dropped the case in August 1959. The sentence was stayed during appeal, and no service of it has been established.
