Biography

Lorenzo Montali was one of the New London workers arrested after an anti-fascist demonstration during the October 1928 Columbus Day parade. The October 18 Daily Worker names him among five people arrested before Vincenzo Gaudenzie, whose later Saturday arrest prompted a Corticelli mill walkout. It expressly says the workers had been released on $500 bail each. Gaudenzie’s Saturday arrest day is not assigned to the other five. The exact personal arrest and discharge days and complete detention remain unknown. Printed names are retained.
