Biography

Rose Markle was a New Haven Communist arrested with R. S. Kling in Shelton, Connecticut, several weeks before the Daily Worker’s August 6, 1925 report. They distributed a Connecticut Trade Union Educational League leaflet to Shelton Looms/Blumenthal workers, discussing their recent strike and calling for broader workplace organization. Shelton authorities prosecuted them under an ordinance forbidding leaflets. Each was fined $2 plus costs, for a total of $17.76. The later Monday street meeting took place without further arrests. The report supplies no exact arrest, physical jail admission, release or actual duration.
