V. Gaudenzi was an Italian-American anti-fascist held in the New London, Connecticut jail in 1928 on a charge of "inciting a riot" after opposing a Columbus Day fascist parade — one of the anti-fascist arrests the ILD's Labor Defender defended as Mussolini's Blackshirt movement organized among Italian immigrants in America.
1920s remaining-entry review: The October 18, 1928 Daily Worker, page 1, names Vincenzo Gaudenzie as the New London Corticelli worker arrested at his shop Saturday morning. Its October 17 dateline places that arrest on October 13, following the Columbus Day demonstration. The continuation on page 4 reports all six defendants released on $500 bail each by the report, without an exact departure day. Both original pages were visually checked by the research agent.
