Biography
Lawrence La’Stylez is a Black queer prison-rights activist from Norfolk, Virginia. In June 2025 UPROAR identified him as a Virginia prisoner transferred to Harnett Correctional Institution in North Carolina after documentary and advocacy work exposing mistreatment of LGBT prisoners. Its June 29 campaign reported that he was burned in a homophobic attack while working in the prison kitchen on June 23 and then lost his job after defending himself. His supporters described the transfer, loss of wages and good-time opportunities, and lack of action on his grievances as retaliation for his advocacy. His underlying conviction and original custody endpoints are unestablished.
