Biography
Lauren Weiner was an environmental activist prosecuted with Eric McDavid and Zachary Jenson in a Northern California conspiracy case. She spent several weeks in Sacramento County Jail before release on bond, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge and testified for the prosecution. Her later sentence included time served and home confinement.
Zachary Jenson’s November 2008 defense sentencing memorandum names Weiner as a co-defendant in the environmental-activism conspiracy and reproduces recorded conversations between her and the informant Anna concerning Jenson’s limited participation. Actual bond release distinguished from the earlier bail order
Pages1 and3 report that Weiner was physically released into her mother’s custody after a few weeks in Sacramento County Jail, on a $1.2million Vaccaro bond. They describe conditions including no contact with co-defendants except through counsel and a broad restriction on environmental advocacy. This confirms that actual release had occurred by the mid-April issue, unlike the earlier newsletter’s uncertainty after a bail grant. It gives no exact discharge day and does not convert bond restrictions or later home confinement into jail days. The initial not-guilty posture is distinct from the later plea recorded in the case.
