Biography

Hayes White was a Black worker arrested on November 6, 1932 and accused of attempting to wreck the train carrying President Herbert Hoover. A November 7 Eau Claire dispatch printed November 8 names Henry Vance and Hayes White as detained and says one was found near tracks at Waverley Beach north of Beloit. The newspaper disputed the evidence and characterized the case as a frame-up; these are its allegations rather than an adjudicated finding. No exact jail admission, physical discharge date or total custody duration is supplied. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1932/v09-n267-NY-nov-08-1932-DW-LOC.pdf#page=2
