Biography
Kathleen “Kathy” Jennings was a social worker and nonviolent anti-nuclear activist born November 13, 1947 in Steubenville, Ohio. On February 10, 1981, she joined five other prayer pilgrims who climbed the outer fence at the Pantex nuclear weapons assembly plant near Amarillo, Texas, stopped before the electrified inner barrier, and prayed. The group refused bond and remained jailed through trial. Jennings received an eight-month sentence and was released September 4, 1981 after 206 days in custody. She later helped operate a halfway house for men in Pittsburgh and continued community service and animal-welfare work. She died September 25, 2024.
Contemporary anti-nuclear custody report
The February 18, 1982 Rockwell trial report individually identifies Vince Eirene and Kathy Jennings as choosing jail rather than a fine and actually being released after ten days. This distinct 1982 imprisonment is not the existing 1981 Pantex case. The release day is not explicitly printed and is not back-calculated; ten days are actual served time, unlike the initial thirty-day sentence option. The February 10 arrest ended in same-day release, not continuous jail until February 18.

A separate 1983 prisoner-directory lead
The September 30, 1983 institutional prisoner directory lists Kathy Jennings at Alderson, with a December 1983 or January 1984 projected endpoint. That point-in-time prison listing is not the earlier 1981 Pantex or 1982 Rockwell stay already recorded. The source does not identify this later prosecution, first admission or actual discharge. The projected range is not entered as a release, and no continuous custody from an earlier arrest is inferred.
Separate 1983 custody evidence and limits
The Pantex update individually names Kathy Jennings and Ladon Sheats with Christine Eirene as climbing the fence on Ash Wednesday 1983, being charged with criminal trespass and remaining in jail until their trial. They were convicted and were still described in prison custody after sentencing. The anniversary action is distinct from the February 1981 Pantex case already stored. Jennings and Sheats received one year, while Eirene received six months plus probation; imposed terms are not completed actual days. This source names Ash Wednesday; the independently reviewed July issue explicitly identifies that Pantex date as February 16. No exact trial or sentencing day, actual final discharge, or uninterrupted posttrial total is invented.

The Nuclear Resister No.18, July 7, 1983, original page 5 explicitly identifies the Pantex Ash Wednesday trespass as February 16.
Actual release confirmed from the separately listed 1983 imprisonment
The December 16, 1983 Recently Released list names Kathy Jennings. Earlier September and November 1983 directories placed her at Alderson; the new listing confirms actual release by December 16, 1983, not the earlier projected December 8 day. The underlying later prosecution and admission are still unidentified. Her known 1981 Pantex and ten-day February 1982 Rockwell episodes are not extended to fill that gap, and no earlier case’s release field is overwritten.
