Biography

Jeffrey Segal appears in the Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors’1969 current-prisoner lists of draft and military conscientious resisters, held at Safford, Arizona.

The Movement’s July 1968 report identifies Jeff Segal as an editor, an Oakland Seven defendant, and an SDS national officer appealing a four-year draft-refusal sentence. It states that a Chicago judge revoked his release on recognizance at a bail hearing, that he was taken directly from court to Cook County Jail, and that he remained jailed while attorneys challenged the ruling. This documents custody before the later Safford roster observation; it does not establish an exact first-admission day, final release, or four years actually served.
