Biography

James Thornton was a motorman involved in the Los Angeles Railway strike. A December 7 dispatch in the Daily Worker of December 8, 1934, page 1, says that the preceding day he began a spontaneous march at Eighth and Hill Streets carrying an American flag. Police seized him, and hundreds of strikers surrounded them before reinforcements dispersed the march with tear gas. The report does not supply a formal charge, sentence, individual jail admission or release. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1934/v11-n293-Nat-dec-08-DW-LOC.pdf
