Biography
Jaime Delgado was born April 9, 1953 in Newark, New Jersey. He worked as a counselor at Proyecto Pa’lante at Northeastern Illinois University, helped found the Committee to Free the Five Nationalists, and served as national coordinator of the National Committee to Free Puerto Rican Prisoners of War. A federal grand jury indicted him in July 1987 in the alleged Leavenworth escape conspiracy. After a ten-week trial, he was convicted of conspiracy and Travel Act violations and received four years in federal prison followed by five years of probation.
Initial detention and bail
Libertad, August 1986, pages 3–4, reports that Jaime Delgado, Dora García-López and Viola Salgado were arrested and immediately arraigned on July 3, 1986, held at the Chicago Metropolitan Correctional Center for four days, and released on bail on July 7. The incarceration field records the start of this initial detention, not admission to the later sentenced prison term. Bail interrupted physical custody; the later prison admission and final release dates remain unconfirmed. July 7 is not assigned as final release from this case, and no continuous served duration is inferred.

Contemporary report of a September release
The archived Inside Story prison-condition materials, physical PDF page 4, retrospectively report that Jaime Delgado got out September 7 after almost three years in an escape-related prosecution. That sentence does not print the year; neighboring items refer explicitly to 1990, so September 7, 1990 remains a source-context lead rather than a newly verified exact discharge field. The existing release stays at year precision. His earlier July 1986 detention ended on bail; no uninterrupted July 1986-to-1990 custody or precise served total is inferred.
The Winter 1988 Insurgent reports that Jaime Delgado remained on bail throughout the escape-conspiracy trial, then was imprisoned immediately after the December 31, 1987 conviction. Judge William T. Hart denied renewed bail on January 4, 1988, and Delgado remained segregated at MCC Chicago. This documents resumed custody after the separately recorded July 3–7, 1986 detention and bail release. February 26 sentencing was still scheduled, not completed at publication.
